Situated across the iconic Harbour Bridge, is 177 Pacific Highway in North Sydney. A 30-floor commercial building that is also the 4th tallest building in North Sydney at a staggering 195 metres tall, offering a state-of-the-art look and breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and right in the heart of North Sydney’s exhilarating business district. It was designed by world renowned architects Bates Smart.
The Challenge
The project had clear sustainability and performance targets, including achieving a minimum 5 Star Green Star rating, which is considered to be an Australian Excellence in the rating system, and achieve a minimum of 45 points, as well as high levels of natural ventilation and energy efficiency. The design aimed to provide efficient airflow in key areas of the building without compromising the tower’s sleek aesthetic, while also meeting the functional requirements of a major commercial workspace.
The Solution
Construction Specialties’ A4080 Louvre was specified for the building, chosen for its ability to allow high free airflow and support natural ventilation where large free area is essential. The A4080’s design also aligns with the project’s environmental goals by enabling efficient air passage while providing an economical solution where water penetration would not be a significant issue. Tested in accordance with AS/NZS 4740:2000 (R2016), the Louvre solution delivers performance and reliability within the building’s façade systems. Today, 177 Pacific Highway stands out in North Sydney’s vibrant landscape for its unique, elegant design and sustainably driven architectural features.
