Serving the community since 1941, Concord Repatriation Hospital was known as the 113th Australian General Hospital and was originally established as a military hospital that provided its services to returned servicemen and women, and also the local communities. Today, it serves the community as one of NSW’s leading teaching hospitals in conjunction with University of Sydney and offers a broad range of services such as colourectal surgery, a National Centre for Veterans’ Healthcare to palliative care.
Concord Repatriation Hospital is located at the Canada Bay Local Area suburb called Concord, which is 16 kilometres from the Sydney CBD and is a 452-bed hospital. While it has been providing various clinical services to the greater community, the NSW Government funded $341.2 million into the redevelopment of the hospital.

This redevelopment was done to support more services to the community and to its patients and staff. It is evident that hospitals are areas that consist of high traffic, with constant movement of staff moving patients and medical equipment and also visitors, it is inevitable for damages within the interior of the hospital to occur. Damages to the interior of the hospital can make the appearance of the hospital look rather unprofessional and unappealing. To combat any damages, Jacobs Architects had carefully selected a range of Acrovyn products to not only protect the walls and doors of the hospital, but to also maintain the integrity and appearance of the hospital.
Throughout the corridors of the hospital, it is visible to see various Acrovyn products, such as the HRWS-6C handrail in different sections of the hospital. Acrovyn Wall Protection sheets are also installed in various parts, alongside with Acrovyn Door Protection. The BG-30N is featured in certain parts of the hospital, and it has been used as a bed stopper to prevent hospital beds from moving and damaging its surroundings.
It is a great privilege to have Acrovyn wall and door protection products installed throughout the Concord Repatriation Hospital, a hospital that has extensive history and is a prestigious teaching hospital but serving its main purpose of serving the greater community. The Acrovyn products installed not only preserves the interior of the hospital, reduces maintenance costs, but also enhances the aesthetics and gives the hospital a less clinical appearance.
